Thomas Symonds is a photographer and art director.
A graduate of Penninghen, he co-founded Dimanche Studio and Papier Magazine upon leaving school, the first high-end publication dedicated to contemporary illustration. After a year as Art Director of the video department at My Little Paris, Thomas returned to Penninghen to teach art direction and photography. He also teaches at the Institut Français de la Mode, where he leads practical workshops and thematic lectures.
He now devotes his time to teaching and writing, traveling wherever his camera takes him. His photographic practice now fully incorporates writing, and his preferred subjects remain street photography and reportage, in the tradition of French humanist photography.
Thomas is a finalist for the Jeunes Talents de la Photographie award, the Picto de la Mode award, and the Libé “Les métiers” prize. He has exhibited widely across France, notably at Le Carreau du Temple in Paris, at the Mercredis de la photographie in Bordeaux, at the Musée de l’horlogerie in Dieppe and in Dublin Ireland.

Diplômé de Penninghen, il cofonde, à sa sortie d’école, Dimanche Studio et Papier Magazine, première revue haut de gamme consacrée à l’illustration contemporaine. Après une année en tant que directeur artistique du pôle vidéo chez My Little Paris, Thomas retourne à Penninghen pour y enseigner la direction artistique et la photographie. Il intervient également à l’Institut Français de la Mode, où il anime des ateliers pratiques et des conférences thématiques.
Il se consacre aujourd’hui à son travail d’enseignant et d’auteur et voyage partout où son appareil l’emmène. Sa pratique photographique intègre désormais pleinement l’écriture, et son sujet de prédilection reste la photographie de rue et le reportage, dans la tradition humaniste française.
Thomas est finaliste du prix Jeunes Talents de la Photographie, du prix Picto de la Mode et du prix Libé « Les métiers ». Il a exposé un peu partout en France, notamment au Carreau du Temple à Paris, aux Mercredis de la photographie à Bordeaux, au Musée de l'horlogerie à Dieppe ainsi qu'à Dublin Irlande.
